Challenge: Vacuum supply with six oil-lubricated pumps
Sai Krupa Enterprise used six decentralized, oil-lubricated vacuum pumps to pick and place freshly formed sleeves. This setup caused several issues:
- Frequent oil refills and short maintenance intervals
- Oil mist with the risk of contamination in food production
- Unstable vacuum levels leading to production stops
- Higher energy consumption due to multiple pumps running simultaneously
- Dependence on foreign spare parts and service
- More complex cleaning in a sensitive production environment
These problems created process risks and hygiene concerns for a supplier serving brands with high quality standards.
Smoothly integrated: One central, oil-free Becker VTLF 2.250
Becker India analyzed the real vacuum and flow requirements on site, checked for leaks and evaluated power usage and load peaks. The analysis showed that one central, dry-running rotary vane pump with a vacuum tank provides stable performance with lower overall operating costs.
Implemented solution:
- 1× Becker VTLF 2.250, dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump,
rated at up to 244 m³/h at 50 Hz and 200 mbar absolute - Vacuum tank for stable vacuum levels
- Automated control panel with demand-based regulation
- Central distribution to all pick and place stations
The VTLF 2.250 runs completely oil-free, is built for continuous operation and needs very little maintenance. The transparent filter cover also makes the inlet filter quick and easy to check.
Results of the switchover to Becker vacuum technology
By using the Becker VTLF 2.250 rotary vane vacuum pump, the following results were achieved for Sai Krupa Enterprise in India.
- Cleaner, food-safe environment with no oil mist and no oil changes
- Lower maintenance effort with far fewer service visits
- Fewer production stops thanks to stable vacuum levels and reliable sleeve handling
- Lower energy bill, one correctly sized pump replaces six units
- Easier operation with a cleaner setup, simpler monitoring and more predictable maintenance planning

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
| Which Becker pump does Sai Krupa Enterprise use? |
|
Sai Krupa Enterprises installed a central, dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump VTLF 2.250 with an air intake of 250m³/h (50Hz), including a 500‑liter vacuum tank and a central vacuum distribution system. |
| In which machines is the VTLF 2.250 used? |
|
The pump is used in cone sleeve forming machines, specifically for the Pick and Place handling in ice cream cone packaging. |
| How did the Becker solution solve the problem? |
|
With a central, oil-free vacuum supply including a vacuum buffer and demand-based control. This ensures stable vacuum levels, far less maintenance, a clean production environment and fewer production interruptions. |
| Why did Sai Krupa Enterprise choose Becker? |
|
Sai Krupa Enterprises choose Becker because the VTLF 2.250 offers oil-free technology, reliable vacuum performance for packaging automation, reduced maintenance and an energy-saving central vacuum setup. In other pick and place systems, Becker’s dry-running rotary vane pump VT 4.40 with up to 40m³/h at 50Hz and 150mbar absolute is already used successfully. |
