Super
deduction

THE PERFECT TIME TO UPGRADE YOUR VACUUM SYSTEMS

With the introduction of the super deduction, there’s never been a better time to upgrade your vacuum pumps. Not only will you benefit from the savings on corporation tax, but you’ll also benefit from reduced downtime and greater energy efficiency, which means lower carbon footprint and lower energy bills.

What is the super deduction scheme?

The super deduction was introduced as part of the 2021 budget to encourage businesses to invest in plant and machinery assets. “For expenditure incurred from 1 April 2021 until the end of March 2023, companies can claim 130% capital allowances on qualifying plant and machinery investments.” This means that if you spend £1m on qualifying investments, you can deduct £1.3m from your taxable profits, saving 19% of that amount (which equates to £247k) on your corporation tax bill. That’s quite a significant saving. And that’s before you even start to consider the cost savings made as a result of improved energy efficiency and reduced downtime and maintenance.

What qualifies for super deduction?

Most tangible capital assets qualify for the super deduction or the 50% first year allowance. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Plant and machinery
  • Foundry equipment
  • Compressors
  • Refrigeration units
  • Office furniture
  • Computer equipment and servers
  • Electric vehicle charge points
  • Solar panels
Why should you upgrade your vacuum systems?

In any manufacturing business, inefficient vacuum pumps increase energy consumption, incur unnecessary repairs and maintenance costs, and increase unplanned downtime. And aside from the obvious issues, a weak or inadequate vacuum could be causing you more problems than you realise. For example, in the woodworking industry, a poor vacuum on a CNC router can cause vibrations and board movement, resulting in poor quality cuts, chipped boards, or damaged tooling. That means more waste, more cost and more inconvenience.

Having the right vacuum systems, optimised to your business’s needs, will save you money and increase productivity. And it’s not just single pump upgrades that are beneficial. Centralised air systems offer even greater benefits. By removing pumps from the production area, you minimise noise and heat. And you can maximise the efficiency of each pump by controlling the speed and power. Plus, having a centralised system makes maintenance much easier, minimising downtime.

Why choose Becker?

There are loads of great reasons to choose Becker, not least the quality and efficiency of our pumps, combined with our exceptional service.

We’ve been manufacturing vacuum equipment for over 140 years, so we know a thing or two about getting it right. Plus, everything we do is solution-focused. We look at our customers’ needs and then design products to meet those needs rather than making products just for the sake of it. And that goes for centralised systems too. We can design and build a system that is completely customised to the needs of your production lines.
