School work experience
As part of your school programme, you’ll gain an initial insight into day-to-day working life and learn about various career paths. We’ll provide you with personalised support and ensure that you really take something away from the experience – not just a stamp on your work experience certificate.
Locations: Wuppertal and Apolda
Duration: As per school requirements, flexible arrangements available
Ideal for: Anyone completing a compulsory school work experience placement
Voluntary work placement
Would you like to gain practical experience independently of school and see things for yourself? With a voluntary work placement, you have more flexibility regarding the duration and timing, and can gain an insight into the specific area that really interests you.
Locations: Wuppertal and Apolda
Duration: Tailored to individual needs
Ideal for: Anyone who wants to gain insights on their own initiative
One-day work experience
Not sure yet whether a longer work placement is right for you? A one-day work placement gives you a concise insight into a particular field or profession and allows you to experience a typical working day at Gebr. Becker in just one day.
Locations: Wuppertal and Apolda
Duration: 1 day
Ideal for: Anyone who wants to get their bearings before committing to a longer internship
Annual work placement
In selected areas, a one-year work placement is also available. You’ll work regularly within the company over an extended period, gaining a genuine, in-depth insight into processes, teams and tasks.
Locations: Wuppertal and Apolda
Duration: Up to one year, regular involvement
Availability: Depends on the department – just ask us
Ideal for: Anyone who wants to get a long-term taster of the company and prepare specifically for a decision on an apprenticeship

What to expect at Gebr. Becker
During your student work placement at Gebr. Becker, you’ll gain genuine insights into everyday working life, which will vary depending on whether you choose a business or technical specialism.
Business Student Work Placement: You’ll be involved in day-to-day office work and support the teams with their daily tasks, such as processing incoming orders in the ERP system.
Technical school-leaver work placement: You’ll be based in our training workshop and work on small practical projects, such as building a Bluetooth speaker or a ‘Mensch ärgere dich nicht’ board game. This will give you a hands-on understanding of technical fundamentals and practical craftsmanship.

No remuneration is provided for compulsory work placements required by the school. For voluntary work placements, we are happy to discuss this on a case-by-case basis.
