Behind the scenes of Becker Service: Supporting woodworking operations at Stengele Holz in Southern Germany

How can industrial vacuum solutions continue to operate reliably over the long term in demanding production environments? How can maximum performance and energy efficiency be maintained even under challenging environmental conditions? What role does a service team play that is not only technically proficient but also understands the customer’s specific application?

Answers to these questions can be found by looking behind the scenes at a specific Becker service call: as part of a guided mobile service visit, we were on site at the customer Stengele together with our service technician Jorgen Grässlin. The visit demonstrated how closely high-performance technology and exceptional service quality go hand in hand at Becker.

A production environment with high demands: woodworking

Stengele is an experienced supplier in the field of wood and plastics processing and works for the caravan industry, amongst others. Production is characterised by demanding materials, tight delivery deadlines, precise processing steps, and a consistently high standard of quality. The family-run company has stood for quality and precision in woodworking for many years. With high efficiency and reliability standards, the company relies on modern manufacturing processes and continuous development.

When we arrived on site, we received a warm welcome and were given a detailed factory tour, providing valuable insight into Stengele’s production processes. It became particularly clear how crucial stable processes, precise workflows, and a reliable technical infrastructure are for day-to-day operations.

The production environment in wood processing places particular demands on the vacuum systems used. Fine wood dust, particle contamination, and fluctuating environmental conditions can place significant strain on components and affect operational reliability. This makes robust, low-maintenance solutions even more important, as well as a reliably coordinated service that ensures the systems continue to operate efficiently and trouble-free even under these demanding conditions.

Vacuum solutions from Becker: the key to stable processes

Stengele utilises various vacuum solutions from Becker, including BCV, VT components, and central vacuum systems.

One of these systems comprises a total of nine components (VADS systems) and supplies several milling applications in production. The vacuum ensures that workpieces remain securely clamped during machining, maintaining consistent conditions, and enabling consistently high-quality results.

Particularly in the caravan industry, where a variety of materials and complex components are processed, process reliability and precise repeatability are of crucial importance. Becker’s vacuum solutions make a decisive contribution to this:

  • Secure and stable clamping of workpieces
  • Consistent process conditions for reproducible results
  • High reliability in series production
  • Efficient supply via centralised system solutions

The sound insulation solution implemented by Becker, in conjunction with the centralised vacuum system, significantly reduces noise levels in the workshop. This also creates better working conditions, eases the workload on staff, and delivers tangible added value to the customer in day-to-day operations.

Service quality as a key success factor

However efficient the systems used may be, their full and long-term benefits are only realised when combined with a reliable, high-quality service. This is where Becker’s service expertise makes a real difference.

Through direct on-site discussions, it became clear what really matters to customers today: a service partner who understands their processes, works in a structured manner, and acts quickly and in a solution-oriented way, even under real-world conditions.

Becker’s mobile service is characterised by several key factors:

  • Careful and application-specific preparation of service calls
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in handling various vacuum solutions
  • High availability, fast response times, and direct support at the customer’s site
  • Transparent communication and a collaborative approach
  • Many years of experience, providing reassurance even when dealing with complex requirements

At Becker, service is therefore not merely seen as a support service, but as an integral part of a stable and efficient production process and a fruitful customer relationship.

Practical insight: Day-to-day service at Becker

A key part of our visit was the opportunity to speak with Becker service technician, Jorgen Grässlin.

His insights illustrate just how varied and demanding day-to-day work in mobile service is.

During the interviews and whilst accompanying him through the entire service call – from preparation right through to follow-up – it became clear that every call brings its own unique set of requirements – ranging from analysing existing systems and carrying out maintenance work to advising and coordinating with the customer. This requires not only technical expertise, but also experience, a structured approach, and a deep understanding of the specific application and the customer’s needs.

It is precisely this combination that enables tailor-made solutions to be developed and implemented, even under complex conditions. The service thus becomes a crucial link between technology and application, ensuring trouble-free operation.

Authentic insights for credible communication

The video footage (soon to be released) captured during the visit provides an authentic insight into Becker’s mobile service within a real production environment.

This offers the opportunity to gain a concrete picture of how vacuum solutions and service work together: from the technical implementation through to on-site procedures and personal interaction. At the same time, it also highlights the experience, structure, and technical expertise behind every service visit.

The specific maintenance work carried out at Stengele included, but was not limited to:

  • Replacing the filter and filter fleece
  • Checking the cooling fan
  • General inspection for leaks and contamination
  • An oil change

Anyone wishing to understand what really matters in practice and how a quality-oriented service contributes to process reliability, will find valuable insights here at Becker.

Conclusion: Reliable service as an integral part of the solution

The visit to Stengele has once again highlighted that successful vacuum solutions go far beyond mere technology. It is the combination of high-performance systems and a dedicated service team that creates the foundation for reliable, efficient production processes.

Becker regards service as an integral part of its own offering, characterised by proximity to the customer, technical expertise, and a clear understanding of practical requirements.

Our special thanks go to our colleague, Jorgen Grässlin and the entire Stengele team for their open and friendly cooperation and the valuable insights provided on site.
