The oil-free rotary vane pumps offer a clean and low-maintenance solution for applications where low to medium vacuum levels (up to 100 mbar absolute) are sufficient. The self-lubricating carbon graphite vanes ensure low-wear operation without the use of oil. These pumps are used, for example, in the wood processing industrymedical technologysecondary packaging and many other industrial sectors.

Series: VT, VX, KVT, KVX, VTLF,  VXLF and VARIAIR versions with a suction capacity of 2 to 570 m³/h.

Depending on the pump type, standard features include: integrated suction filter, adjustable vacuum valve, safety valve, vibration damper.

Dry-running rotary vane vacuum pumps

Oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump

If a fine vacuum or high vacuum is required, an oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump is the ideal choice. The thin oil film in the working chamber improves sealing, minimizes leakage and enables a vacuum level of up to 1 mbar absolute. These pumps are used in areas such as food processing and vacuum packaging of food, but also in research, where the highest demands are placed on the vacuum.

Series: O6, O5, U5, U4 and VARIAIR versions with a suction capacity of 4 to 732 m³/h.

Depending on the pump type, the standard equipment includes: integrated oil separator, non-return valve/check valve, gas ballast valve, oil filter, vibration damper.

Further product information & technologies

Various versions of the vacuum rotary vane pump offer a wide range of customisation options, depending on the series.

VARIAIR Unit with integrated frequency inverter.
Vacuum system with tank and electronic control.
Customised accessories, such as suction filters, separators, etc., which can be fitted to the suction-side connection or, in the case of oil-sealed pumps, in some cases also to specific service connections.
Vacuum valve, Series X, PRO version with corrosion protection or sound enclosure for dry-running rotary vane pumps.
Different motor voltages for worldwide use.
Several dry-running rotary vane pumps can be combined to form an extremely efficient centralised system, either as a compact VACS cabinet solution or as a centralised vacuum system for a separate pump room.

What are your pump requirements?

Increase your volume flow by up to 20% in the 50 Hz supply network - with the flexible VARIAIR technology from Becker!

At Becker, we call the combination of rotary vane pump and frequency inverter the VARIAIR Unit. It means a flexible power range from 30 to 60 Hz. The integrated frequency converter regulates the speed of the motor variably and thus adapts it precisely to the customer's requirements. The energy requirement is optimised and a constant pressure is guaranteed even with varying or strongly fluctuating consumption. This maximizes efficiency and saves energy costs.

The pump parameters are monitored electronically. (mechanical protection by means of a vacuum valve or safety valve in the standard versions of the dry-running pumps) This ensures reliable operation and prevents damage to the rotary vane vacuum pump due to excessive currents and temperatures.

Equipped with specially developed vanes, the dry-running rotary vane pumps are characterised by maximum abrasion resistance and therefore an extremely long service life. With virtually no abrasion and correspondingly minimal dust generation, the X series devices are ideal for precision processes

Our innovation not only impresses with its 100% oil-free operation, but also with its excellent efficiency and low energy consumption. In the sensitive vacuum range, the X series also ensures precise, low-pulsation air flow.

Becker guarantees a valve service life of 20,000 operating hours or a maximum of 3 years.

FAQ

A rotary vane vacuum pump is a positive displacement pump that removes air or gases from a closed system by mechanical displacement, thereby creating a vacuum.

The rotary vane vacuum pump operates on a proven principle that combines high efficiency with reliability. Inside a cylindrical housing, an eccentrically mounted rotor rotates with precisely fitted vanes and is driven by an air-cooled motor. During rotation, the vanes are pushed outward against the cylinder wall by centrifugal force, dividing the working chamber into multiple compartments.

Due to the eccentricity and continuous movement of the rotor, the size of each chamber constantly changes. The medium being pumped, such as air or gas, is compressed and then transported out of the housing. This process generates the desired vacuum, which is used in a wide range of industrial applications.

Depending on the design, either self-lubricating vane material or oil is used to seal the chambers reliably and ensure a long service life. Our rotary vane vacuum pumps are available in both oil-free and oil-lubricated versions. They provide high operational safety, low maintenance requirements, and are ideal for processes requiring consistent performance and high pressure differentials.

When selecting the right rotary vane vacuum pump, several factors are crucial. The required vacuum level is the starting point. Equally important are the time needed to reach that level, process cleanliness, and the environmental conditions. With our extensive experience and broad product range, we help you find the optimal solution for your application.

Dry-running or oil-free pumps:
The self-lubricating carbon graphite vanes ensure that the working chamber is sealed towards the housing, thus guaranteeing low-wear operation without the use of oil.

Maximum vacuum: 100 mbar absolute
Series VT, VX, KVT, KVX, VTLF, VXLF and VARIAIR versions with a pumping speed of 2 to 570 m³/h.

Oil-lubricated pumps:
The thin oil film in the working chamber improves sealing, enabling higher vacuum levels. - Ideal for demanding applications.

Maximum vacuum: 1 mbar absolute

Series O6, O5, U5, U4 and VARIAIR versions with pumping speeds from 4 to 732 m³/h.

Rotary vane vacuum pumps generate negative pressure, i.e. a vacuum, while compressors generate positive pressure.

However, the basic design is the same apart from a few details, such as the position of any vacuum valve or safety valve or the connection position for the consumer.

Whether vacuum or pressure application, they are always positive displacement pumps.

Rotary vane vacuum pumps are used in many markets and industries, including:

  • Woodworking industry
  • Food and packaging industry
  • Pharmaceutical production
  • Plastics and metal processing
  • Printing and paper industry
  • Research and development

The proven rotary vane vacuum pump is characterised by its compact design and high efficiency. This makes it flexible in its possible applications and energy-efficient.

The rotary vane pump is robust, i.e. particularly reliable, and low-maintenance. This pump technology therefore offers an excellent price-performance ratio.

Oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps: Minimal oil mist thanks to innovative technology

Oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps can produce a small amount of oil mist during operation, which is released into the ambient air. Thanks to Becker's advanced air separator technology, however, almost all of the oil mist is filtered out. This function is performed by our effective oil separators. Over a longer period of operation, the amount of mist released remains extremely low - comparable to a minimal spray from a commercially available atomizer.

For applications with strict hygiene regulations, such as in the food or pharmaceutical industry, Becker also offers special lubricants that meet the requirements for food safety and halal or kosher certifications. Regular maintenance and the use of original Becker parts, such as separators and filters, also minimize the environmental impact and ensure the long-term efficiency of the pumps.

Oil-free rotary vane vacuum pumps: Efficient and clean

The dry-running rotary vane vacuum pumps from Becker are equipped with self-lubricating vanes made of a robust graphite composite material. These vanes act as a chamber seal in the working chamber. - Compared to the oil function of oil-lubricated or oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps.

During operation, a minimal amount of graphite particles or dust can be released into the conveyed medium due to the natural abrasion of the vanes. If particle-free exhaust air is required, dust separators can be used on request to reliably remove these residues.
