In the furniture industry, manufacturers are under constant pressure to combine high production efficiency with consistently high product quality. Increasing automation, shorter cycle times and rising energy costs make stable and reliable processes more important than ever. At the same time, even small disruptions in vacuum supply can directly impact productivity, surface quality or material handling.
This is where Becker’s application expertise comes into play. With decades of experience in vacuum technology for woodworking and furniture production, Becker supports manufacturers in designing solutions that fit their specific processes – from individual machines to complex production environments. The focus is always on reliability, efficiency and long-term operational stability.
From January to November 2025, operating revenue for large-scale furniture enterprises reached 554.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%; total profits were 24.44 billion yuan, a significant year-on-year decline of 22.7%. The profit decline far exceeds the revenue decline, indicating increasingly fierce competition and severely compressed profit margins in the industry.
At the same time, the cumulative retail sales of furniture products by large-scale retailers reached 189.49 billion yuan, counter-trend growth of 16.9% year-on-year. This contrast of "one falling, one rising" data reveals that despite overall industry pressure, structural opportunities still exist in the domestic demand market.
Based on a deep understanding of our Chinese customers' pain points, we did not simply apply an existing solution. Traditional woodworking workshops commonly use multiple small, fixed-speed vacuum pumps, which suffer from high energy consumption and noise. For this project, our China team pioneered the introduction of a centralized system solution based on the BOSV 1800 oil-injected screw vacuum pump.
We completed a system renovation for a woodworking customer in South China.
Before Upgrade: Traditional Decentralized Single-Pump Solution
The workshop originally used 20 fixed-speed vacuum pumps, providing independent air supply for each production line. As each pump could not adjust according to load, the total operating power was constant at 110 kW.
After Upgrade: Becker Central Vacuum System
The new solution uses a central system composed of 4 Becker BOSV 1800 Variable Frequency Screw Vacuum Pumps (3 operational + 1 standby). Through intelligent variable frequency adjustment, the actual operating power dynamically varies between 50-70 kW, with an average operating power of only 60 kW.
Actual Operating Performance Verification
The new system's exceptional performance has been strongly validated by the customer's actual operating data from December 2025 to January 2026:
Over a 26-day (208-hour) operating period, the system provided vacuum power for the same 10 CNC machines.
Remarkable Energy Saving: The new system (4 BOSV 1800 units) consumed a total of 5,228 kW/h, while the original decentralized small-pump solution (20 various single pumps) consumed approximately 18,512 kW/h.
The comprehensive energy saving ratio reached about 70%, far exceeding theoretical estimates and delivering cost savings beyond expectations for the customer.
Calculated based on 7,000 operating hours per year, the new system saves approximately 350,000 yuan in electricity costs annually, with a total investment payback period of about two years. Additionally, the independent pump room design significantly reduces workshop noise and thermal load, improving the working environment.
Zero unplanned downtime – The 3+1 pump arrangement ensures that a standby pump automatically replaces any failed unit, preventing costly production interruptions.
This case successfully demonstrates the exceptional performance of the BOSV Central Vacuum System in large woodworking workshops. It represents not merely an equipment replacement but a systematic upgrade towards smart manufacturing and green production, helping companies build solid cost and operational advantages during the industry adjustment period.
